Academy Women's Healthcare Physicians
David A. Stark, M.D.
Dr. Stark is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is a native of Illinois and attended the Pritzker School of Medicine at the University of Chicago. Dr. Stark completed his OB/GYN residency at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in Oklahoma City, Okla. He has practiced in Olathe, Kan., prior to joining Academy Women's Healthcare Associates. He is married with four children.
Kevin P. Weary, M.D.
Dr. Weary is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Raised in Houston, Texas, he attended the University of Texas Medical School at Houston, then completed his OB/GYN residency at the Scott and White Clinics in Temple, Tex. He joined Academy Women's Healthcare Associates in 1996. Dr. Weary and his wife have four children.
Lawrence O'Connell, M.D.
Dr. O'Connell is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is a graduate of Washington State University and the University of Nebraska College of Medicine. Following completion of his OB/GYN Residency at Keesler AFB, in Mississippi, he practiced at the U.S. Air Force Academy until June 2001. Dr. O'Connell joined Academy Women's Healthcare Associates the following month.
Dr. O'Connell has a special interest in menopausal health issues and was a pioneer in the use of sonohysterography to evaluate post-menopausal abnormal uterine bleeding. Most recently, he participated in a three-year, nationwide project to develop an Internet-based program for prenatal patient education, titled "Spring Garden" (to be released September 2001).
Dr. O'Connell and his wife have two children.
Meredith S. Cassidy, M.D.
Dr. Cassidy is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Following the completion of her OB/GYN residency at Wilford Hall Medical Center at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas, Dr. Cassidy practiced at the U.S. Air Force Academy. In April 2002, she joined Academy Women's Healthcare Associates. Dr. Cassidy has special interest in the following:
* miscarriage including recurrent miscarriage;
* issues related to menopause-including irregular bleeding, hormones, prevention of chronic conditions such as osteoporsis;
* and abnormal bleeding and the many treatment options available.
Dr. Cassidy and her husband are the parents of two sons.
Roland Baiza, Jr., M.D.
Dr. Baiza completed his OB/GYN residency at Scott & White Clinic and he remained as senior staff and Assistant Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Texas A&M Medical School until July, 2002. In August 2002, he joined the staff of Academy Women's Healthcare Associates.
He has special interests in pelvic reconstructive surgery, female urinary incontinence and endoscopic surgery.
Dr. Baiza and his wife Raquel have been married for over 14 years and are the parents of two daughters ages 13 and 8. He enjoys all athletic activities, golf, skiing and is actively involved at his church. He presently serves as a deacon of Sunday school ministries at Grace Bible Church.
Amy Clauss, M.D.
Dr. Clauss completed her undergraduate training in Chemistry at the University of California, Santa Barbara and received her medical degree from Loyola University Chicago, Stritch School of Medicine. She completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Texas, Southwestern in Dallas at Parkland Hospital where she also served as Chief Resident during her final year of training.
Dr. Clauss enjoys practicing general obstetrics and gynecology, with a special interest in high-risk obstetrics and gynecologic laparoscopic surgery.
In her free time, Dr. Clauss enjoys swimming, wakeboarding, snowboarding, and hiking. She and her husband Jeff recently celebrated the arrival of their first son and are loving parenthood. Together they enjoy over-seas travel, scuba-diving, and involvement in church ministry.
